Mayor - Gill Cleeve

Councillor Gill Cleeve was born in Wales, then moved with her family to Canada and then returned to Stratford upon Avon.

Gill was appointed to the Town Council in May 2019 and serves on the Community Services Committee, Civic Heritage and Events Committee and was previously on Planning Consultative Committee. Gill is also a member of a number of sub-groups.

Career History

When Gill lived in Vancouver, she worked in the Theatre and Movie industry, as well as being the Security Lead at Vancouver General Hospital.  When she moved to the UK in 1998, she worked at the Land Registry in Portsmouth, then she moved to the Midlands and worked in Committee Services at Wychavon District Council, before moving to Stratford with her husband after having her daughter. Being a mother she decided, self employment would work better around her family life, so followed one of her passions and became a First Aid Instructor, which she has been doing for the past 6 years, she also worked as a Chaperone at the RSC from 2017 to 2019.

Community Interests

Gill spends most of her free time volunteering, she is a Rainbow and Guide Leader with Stratford Girlguiding, she is also a Youth Mentor with Life Space Trust and also supports Escape Arts with many of their activities. Gill has been a member of Rubbish Friends since it began and is also a Trustee via the Town Council on Stratford Town Trust.

Gill was one of the founding Committee members of Avon Valley Community First Responders, as well as a voluntary First Responder. She also became a Volunteer Vaccinator with St John Ambulance in 2021 and still keeps her hand in with that.

Gill has also been a secretary for Stratford Musical Theatre Company and a Chaperone for Playbox Theatre.

Leisure Activities

When Gill actually has free time, her interests include archery, camping, travel, narrow boating and going to the theatre and SCUBA diving.
