Youth Town Council

A Youth Council is a democratic organisation created, run and developed by young people for young people.  They exist to represent the views of young people at a local level, giving young people the opportunity to have a voice, discuss relevant issues, engage with decision-makers and contribute to improving the lives of other young people within their communities.

Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council are keen to form a small steering group of enthusiastic young people to work with while the initial groundwork is being done.   For more information on how to apply, please see below.

Stratford-upon-Avon Youth Town Council

In July, Town Council unanimously resolved to establish a Steering Group of young members to engage in the process of setting up Stratford-upon-Avon’s first Youth Council.  It is important to note that the Town Council’s intention is to facilitate the Youth Council but not interfere or try to run it.  It really will be a Youth Council run by young people for the benefit of young people.

Initially, the Steering Group and Town Council members will work proactively together to begin to define the Youth Council’s responsibilities and its boundaries.  Clear objectives will be established and as the Youth Council progresses and matures, additional responsibilities and objectives could be assumed.

If you are an enthusiastic individual between the age of 13 and 18, live within the Stratford-upon-Avon town boundary and really want to make a difference, then you would be an ideal Steering Group member.  You may very well go on to be on the Youth Council, but this is obviously not guaranteed.
