Councillor Eva Mackenzie was born and brought up in Manchester and has lived in York, Rotterdam, Canada, Belgium and Weybridge before moving to the West Midlands. She is married to Simon and they have 2 children who went to local schools. The family have lived in Tiddington in Stratford-upon-Avon for 19 years.
Eva was appointed to the Town Council in May 2019 and serves on the Civic Heritage and Events and the Human Resources Committee. She is also a member of two of the sub-groups.
Eva has been a teacher for 40 years. In the last twenty years she has worked in local secondary schools. Her last post was as Head of Religious Studies, Personal Social Education and Head of year 9 students. She is also a trained mindfulness teacher.
Eva is now retired from teaching but has been volunteering with The Parenting Project charity where she has been delivering a mindfulness program to year 11 students at Shipton school and with parents. In the past Eva has been a school governor at St Benedict’s school. She is Women’s leader for her local SGI Buddhist group which involves home visits, organising discussion meetings and producing the monthly schedule. She also volunteers once a month at Taplow Court Buddhist centre in Maidenhead.
Eva is a keen swimmer and swims almost every day and also enjoys walking and cycling. Her interests include gardening, reading and film.
