Supporting Stratford-upon-Avon during COVID-19

Even before the lockdown was certain, Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council, along with Stratford Town Trust met regularly to discuss how to support the town during the unprecedented time. Multiple meetings between Councillors, Officers and Trustees were held which ultimately led to the Stratford Support website being launched in March, 2020.

The website was created for local people to volunteer their services and get support if needed. A staggering 306 people signed up to volunteer and a small team of hardworking volunteers were formed. Grocery shopping was completed, prescriptions collected, and Foodbank parcels delivered to individuals or families asked by the government to shield.  The Town Council also became a Foodbank referral agency, enabling the extension of the Foodbank’s reach.

Stratford Support continues to meet regularly to discuss ways to best support the residents of Stratford, for unquestionably, the pandemic has not ended.
