CHRISTMAS is coming to STRATFORD!

Stratford Christmas Lights, which remain one of the most outstanding displays in the country, will be switched on by the Mayor on Thursday 24 November.

The Town Council would like to thank the Christmas Lights Company Limited for all their hard work throughout the year, which culminates in the spectacular display. We would also like to thank all the retailers and businesses in the town that support the lights - although the Town Council resolved to continue its financial support, additional backing from the private sector is necessary in order to sustain the fantastic display.

As usual, Father Christmas will make an appearance on Switch-on night, and no doubt will be kept busy for hours meeting and greeting all the children who come to see him in his snowy Winter Wonderland Grotto, at the Town Hall (this is free).

The town will be buzzing with festive activity, spurred on by the opening of the Christmas Market in Bridge Street, which will continue every Thursday in the run-up to Christmas. Each week there will be a variety of festive entertainment including a Snow Queen, a snowman and live music.

On 15 December, weather permitting, the Lions will have their annual carol concert outside Marks and Spencer.

All of Stratford’s markets will be entering into the festive spirit and there will be a plethora of interesting and unique gifts on offer. So, if you are stuck for that present for ‘he/she who has everything’ have a wander round the markets and the friendly traders will not be shy in coming up with some ideas!
