Councillor Anthony Jackson – known as Tony – represents the Liberal Democrats and was elected as the Town Councillor for Guildhall Ward in May 2015 and was returned in 2019.  He was re-elected in May 2019 and elected as Deputy Mayor for 2019-2020. 

Tony was appointed as a Nominated Trustee to the Town Trust in 2016 and is currently Deputy Chair

He was born in Ellesmere Port and attended Ellesmere Port Grammar School but Stratford has been his home for the past 35 years and is married to Mandy who is a Registrar.  They have twins who were educated at Broad Street School and subsequently at Alcester Grammar.

Career History

Upon leaving school he joined the NFU Mutual – Chester Office before transferring to the Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1984. He still works for the Company and will complete 40 years’ service in July 2015. He qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance institute and was principally employed as an Underwriter, although in later years he has moved to Internal Consultancy roles.

Leisure Activities

Tony is still an active runner and a regular at the local Park Run, but in recent years has become increasingly involved on the administration side. He is Secretary of Stratford-upon-Avon Athletic Club, a Qualified Track and Field Judge, Race Organiser and he was a Games Maker at the 2012 London Olympics where he was a Team Leader at the Handball Competition.
