D-Day 80th Anniversary

D-Day 80th Anniversary

This evening, Stratford-upon-Avon will formally mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings with an Act of Commemoration in the Garden of Remembrance, led by the Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Revd. Patrick Taylor.

The evening will incorporate the lighting of the Stratford-upon-Avon gas beacon.

The beacon will be one of hundreds being lit across the UK and the Commonwealth, following the lighting of the principal beacon at the naval base in Portsmouth, the departure point from which many of the boats sailed in June 1944.

You are invited to gather at the Garden of Remembrance from 8:45pm onwards - everyone is welcome.
